Earth Day 2025 Announcement for TransCanadaHighway.com

April 22 is Earth Day, and we are letting our social media and our website visitors know that we have been working on a LARGE PROJECT to let travellers see, enjoy, and understand more of Canada’s natural features on their drive(s) across the country on our national highway.
Did you know that only 7% of the Trans-Canada goes through urban areas, including cities and small towns? Over 93% of the Trans-Canada Highway goes through rural, farmland, and wilderness areas of varying degrees.
When you look at TRAVEL BOOKS about Canada, whether online, at your local bookstore, or at the library, they make it look like the only parts of Canada worth visiting are urban centres like Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Vancouver, and they give “lip service” to natural wonders in places like Niagara Falls, Lake Louise, Jasper, and Whistler. And many talk about Canada like you can go visit each and all these attractions in an easy week or two. WRONG!
We have had details about the various smaller communities along the way since Day One, and information about what you can see & do along the highway, for each itinerary segment, to help you plan your vacation travel, and not miss something of particular interest to you or your family members. We have always touched on the natural features, including rivers, lakes, mountains, and other items of interest.
See our Itineraries content [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/itineraries/], our Towns & Cities content [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/towns/], our Tours and Detours [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/tours/], our Highway History [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/history/], and our Travel Tips pages [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/traveltips/].
We will be adding NEW CONTENT in the coming weeks and months detailing the Natural, Ecological, Geological, and Indigenous Features of the Trans-Canada Highway which is currently in development [https://TransCanadaHighway.com/traveltips/natural-ecological-geological-and-indigenous-features-of-the-trans-canada-highway/]. You can access this quickly by typing: https://TransCanadaHighway.com/nature. This page will be evolving rapidly as we are working to complete the highway segments. We have begun our work starting with the West Coast and are now working our way across the Canadian Shield of Ontario. By mid-May we should have completed with our Atlantic Provinces content.
The individual pages match our existing Itinerary segments of the Trans-Canada Highway and will link to and from those pages (just click on the GREEN buttons). The kilometre distances for the features match those Itineraries as well. These pages will have a Google map identifying all the features we describe, and you can toggle for the map to the description, and the map can toggle between “map view” and “satellite view”. And you can drill down and view these features before, during, and after your road trip!
